It's Summer Time!

Keep your minds active during this long break, and be sure to read at least 30 minutes each day to learn something new!

Thank you for a fabulous 2018-19 school year! It was truly spectacular. We are VERY excited about 2019-20, and working hard to plan for a hit-the-ground-running start with academic rigor, excellent customer service, and social-emotional learning for our students and their families.

Communication Protocol

  • If you have questions or concerns about your student's progress, please contact your child's teacher via email or a phone message. The school phone number is 972-223-6505. Email addresses are listed on school staff pages.
  • Please allow a 24-hour window for campus staff to respond to your communication. Typically, teachers will return your phone call or respond to your email at the end of the school day, or on their planning period, depending on the time the message was sent/received.
  • Please address campus-level concerns with the principal. This can be done by completing the School Communication Form which is located at the front desk. Again, please allow a 24-hour window for your concern to be addressed.

NUTS AND BOLTS

  • Daily attendance is important! Remember our attendance goal is 97% or higher for each grade level. You can assist us with meeting this goal by making sure that your child is present and on time each daySchool begins at 8:00 a.m. daily
  • Please refer to the Student Code of Conduct for dress code requirements.  We are conducting enforcement checks each morning to ensure that our students remain in compliance. Third-fifth grade students should wear a belt with clothing that have belt loops. The DISD PK-8 can be found here, or by visiting the DeSoto ISD website, clicking the "For Parents" link from the left menu, and selecting "Student Code of Conduct." Refer to pages 9-11 for complete details.
  • Positive school & classroom behavior is an expectation. Majority of our students are still doing a tremendous job at staying on task during class & throughout the building. Let's continue to reinforce positive behavior both at school and home. We are conducting restorative discipline circles to help students become aware of their actions, as well making better choices in every situation they may face.
  • Our district does not tolerate bullying. Refer to page 16 of the Student Code of Conduct for details.
  • Ensure that your child is getting the proper amount of rest each day. Rest plays a vital part in daily restoration of the mind and body.
  • College Day is each Wednesday. Students are encouraged to wear a college shirt  with their uniform pants
  • Spirit Day is the last day of each week. Students are encouraged to wear a Ruby Young or DeSoto ISD shirt with jeans.
